About
How this site works
Most relationship advice online is one person’s opinion dressed up as a universal truth. We built this to be the other thing: every answer says where it came from, how confident anyone should be about it, and what the people who disagree would say.
Who writes the answers
The RelationshipAdvices Desk, a small research and editorial team. We read the psychology and counselling literature, summarise what it actually found, and write it up in plain language. We use AI to draft and structure answers from that research, and every page is checked before it goes live.
We are not licensed therapists. We say this on every page because it matters. Nothing here is therapy, diagnosis, or a substitute for care from someone who knows your situation.
How we handle evidence
Every claim is labelled with what it rests on: a specific study, professional consensus, what people commonly report, or a definition. Research findings always carry their limitations, sample size, study design, whether anyone has replicated it, because a finding without its caveats is how pop psychology gets made.
Most interesting relationship questions have limited or contested evidence, and we say so rather than manufacturing confidence. An honest “nobody really knows yet” is more useful than a confident answer that is wrong.
Why there are religious perspectives
Because for a lot of readers, what their tradition teaches is genuinely part of the question. Where a tradition has a substantive position, we describe it and attribute it, naming the school or denomination, and saying plainly where the tradition itself is divided. We never present one as correct, and a secular perspective always sits alongside them.
What we will not do
We do not invent studies, statistics, or quotations. We do not diagnose anyone. We do not publish advice that would help someone control, monitor, or coerce a partner. We do not moralise about consensual choices between adults. And we do not tell someone showing signs of an abusive relationship to try harder, those questions route to real support services first.
When we get it wrong
We will. Evidence changes and we make mistakes. Pages are versioned, corrections are logged on the page rather than made silently, and you can tell us at hello@relationshipadvices.com. If you can point at the source we misread, even better.
