Privacy
People read this site about the most private things in their lives. The design brief for our data handling was: collect as little as possible, and make sure nothing here could hurt someone if it leaked.
What we do not collect
We do not store IP addresses or user agents against your activity. We do not sell data, and we do not run third-party advertising or tracking pixels that would let another company build a profile of what you read here.
Poll votes
Anonymous voting works through a random identifier stored in a cookie in your own browser. That identifier is salted and hashed before it ever reaches our database, and it is not linked to anything else. We keep it so you can change your vote later and so one person cannot vote fifty times. Clearing your cookies simply lets you vote again, which we consider an acceptable trade for not tracking you.
Accounts
If you create an account we store your email address, a display name, and what you post. Your saved answers, votes, and reading history are private and never shown to other readers. Only comments you post publicly are visible to anyone else.
Search
We log the text of searches so we can see which questions people want answered that we have not covered. We store the query and nothing else, no identifier, no session, no way to connect a search back to a person or to their other searches.
If you subscribe we store your email address and any topics you selected. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe, and unsubscribing removes you from sending immediately.
Deleting your data
Email hello@relationshipadvices.com from your account address and we will delete your account, your posts, and your saved items.
If someone can see your device
Nothing we do can hide your activity from someone with access to your device or network. If that is a concern, use a private browsing window, and consider contacting one of the services on our support page, they can advise on safer ways to get help.
